We are always very happy to welcome people to sit in on a meeting and see what we're all about.  There will always be someone available to answer your questions.  If you would like information before attending a meeting or want to confirm that there will be a meeting, please email us at:

tammyandruss@eastlink.ca

or you may call 798-4428 (1-7pm only please) or our Information Line at 757-2000, but be sure to leave a message.

As mentioned on the Contact Page - Cruelty/Neglect/Abuse issues are never discussed at meetings.  The public is urged to phone Toll Free 1-888-703-7722 or 902-835-4798 to report any such cases that you either have a concern about or have witnessed.  The information is used by a Cruelty Agent who investigates.  In emergency situations, call the RCMP

Meetings are kept fairly casual and generally our main discussions regard fund-raising.

If you decide you would like to become a member, the membership fee is $10 per year and is paid at a meeting.  If you would like to attend meetings and really get involved, there are many ways to help as a member, such as listed here:

1.    Provide a Foster Home for cats/kittens or dogs/puppies when needed
2.    Suggest ideas for fund-raising
3.    Organize or assist in organizing fund-raising activities
4.    Volunteer to work at fund-raising activities
5.    Offer to clean facilities where animals are fostered (mostly kittens/cats)
6.    Offer any talents that may be helpful to the SPCA (graphic design for example)
7.    Donate pet food, dishes, litter, cleaning supplies, etc.
8.    Consider, and learn about, becoming a Cruelty Agent

Your time, more than anything, is the most valuable item you can give to assist in SPCA endeavors.

The funds we raise are through time and effort DONATED by Members and Friends of the SPCA.

We are NOT GOVERNMENT FUNDED

We do not own our facility, so because of generous people who foster our animals, almost 100% of funds raised can be used directly on the care of the animals.  All animals that come into our care are Vet checked, needled, treated for fleas and worms, and feline leukemia checked before being taken to a Foster home.  When of age (5-6 months) all animals are spayed or neutered.  To keep an SPCA operating to help animals in jeopardy, a lot of money is needed.

By joining an SPCA, you may be helping animals like those shown above, find a home where they are safe, warm and loved!
