7 Reasons to Keep your Cat Indoors

1.    The average outdoor cat lives just 2-3 years while indoor cats usually live 15 years or        more.

2.    Living safely indoors, cats require less veterinary care and are protected from fleas,        ticks and worms.

3.    Indoor cats are less likely to catch feline leukemia or immunodeficiency viruses,                ingest poisons or eat spoiled food.

4.    More outdoor cats are killed by cars than any other hazard.

5.   Outdoor cats risk encounters with dogs, other not-so-friendly cats and wild animals.

6.    Spayed and neutered indoor cats don't create litters of unwanted kittens.  And they                don't disturb neighbors with their howling.

7.    Songbirds are not needlessly killed by marauding outdoor cats.

Dogs Can't Hold On!

It may seem like your dog enjoys it,  but  riding in the back of a truck could cost your dog its life.

If you hit a bump, swerve unexpectedly, or brake suddenly, your best friend could easily be thrown or fall out of your truck.  If your dog isn't injured or killed by the fall, another car may hit it.  Cars swerving to miss your dog may even cause other accidents for which you could be liable.

Simply tying your dog in the truck bed is not a solution.  Ropes and leashes become nooses should your dog be jolted from the truck.  Also, wind whipping debris into a dog's eyes can cause permanent damage.

Use a protective kennel secured to the center of the truck bed, let your best friend ride safely in the cab with you, or leave your dog safely at home.

Skunk Spray Critter Cleaner

A Grooming Expert who has found that using tomato juice, vinegar and various types of shampoos do not work for a skunk odor antidote recommends the following easy home recipe using ingredients that can be found in most drugstores.

  • One quart of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide
  • One-fourth cup of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
  • One teaspoon of liquid soap

She suggests to begin by wetting the animal down, then apply the mixture and work it through the animal's fur.  Leave the solution on for 3 to 4 minutes, and finish with a tap water rinse.

CAUTION:    Make up only as much of the de-skunking remedy as you can use at one time.  It is unsafe to                      bottle and store this chemical combination.
